Interior Design Trends for 2024

Updated: Feb 2

What we're leaving behind and what we're welcoming in the New Year.

Interior design is a constantly changing field with certain trends fading from the scene annually, or even seasonally. Today, I am taking a look at the design elements that are phasing out of use from 2023 and looking forward to some beautiful trends gaining momentum in 2024.

Enjoy — and let me know if you'd like to see some of these trends in your home updated for the long term.

Farewell to These 2023 Trends

  • Shades of Gray: Gray tones have dominated interiors for the last decade and are now starting to leave the spotlight to make way for some warmer neutrals.

  • Subway Tile: On its way out with the all-white kitchens, subway tile is classic, but not making any statements.

  • Painting Over Wood: Nature is already beautiful; why cover it up?

Say Hello to These 2024 Trends

  • Connecting with Nature: Bring the outdoors in with natural materials, large windows, and living plants. Embrace the sunshine by maximizing natural light in every room.

  • Dopamine Decor: Design a space with all of the things that make you happy instead of focusing on trends.

  • Artisanal and Handcrafted Pieces: With an increasing appreciation for craftsmanship, one-of-a-kind pieces are growing in popularity. They add character and create a focal point in any room - including incorporating antique pieces!

My Take on Trends

My opinion (so glad you asked) is that certain trends are timeless in certain situations. If you need a more toned down color palette, straight lines, and smooth textures to love the home you live in, go for it. If you prefer bold colours and vibrate patterns, perfect!

What's "timeless" for one person, won't be the same for the next.

Don't do it or not do it because it's a trend. Do it because you want it (I'll help you figure out the details of this. Just hit "reach out" to get started).
